Sample Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Denpasar, drive to Ubud

On arrival in Bali, you'll be met by your private guide, who will accompany you to your hotel in Ubud.

Day 2
Cycling tour

The start point for today’s cycling tour is the village of Kadewatan, to the north of Ubud. Alongside your local cycle guide, travel through the outskirts of Ubud on two wheels for a broad overview of the stunning countryside peppered with the micro-details of daily local life. Your guide will give you further insight into Balinese culture and lifestyle as you take a leisurely, predominantly downhill 3-hour cycle past rice fields and temple compounds, through local villages and bamboo forest. Finish your journey with a buffet lunch at a local restaurant, before enjoying the remainder of your day at leisure. Perhaps you'll reward yourself with a spa treatment after the morning’s ride!

Day 3
Mas artisan village experience

Spend your day at the artisan village of Mas, and get a true flavour of some uniquely Balinese local culture, lifestyle and traditions. Over the course of the day you’ll be blessed by a local priest, learn about ancient divination methods from an astrologer, and try your hand at wood-carving under the watchful eye of a local woodcarver. A hands-on cooking experience will provide a traditional Balinese lunch. On your way back to Ubud there will be the opportunity to visit the Agung Rai Museum of Art, which contains one of the best permanent collections of Balinese and Indonesian paintings.

Day 4
Mt Batur sunrise trek

You'll start out eye-wateringly early, at 2.30am - but we promise it's worth it! Your guide will escort you to the foot of the Mt Batur trail, and together you'll set off through the volcanic ash for a pre-dawn trek up this active volcano to watch sunrise from the peak. With plenty of opportunities to stop and rest on the ascent, you’ll emerge after about two hours at the top of the wind-swept crater. Make yourself comfortable, enjoy a picnic breakfast, and look across to the peaks of Mount Abang and Mount Agung as dawn breaks. Wander around the summit, enjoying the breathtaking views of Lake Batur, and observing the historic lava flows of former eruptions. Stop at an array of natural hot springs within the crater, where you can soak weary limbs whilst gazing out across Lake Batur’s rippling surface.

Day 5
Jatiluwih trek, Ulun Danu, drive to Menjangan

Depart for Bali’s north coast through the island’s scenic central region, pausing at the vibrant green steps of the UNESCO-listed Jatiluwih rice terraces. Enjoy a leisurely 1-hour trek through the fields, learning about traditional subak rice farming practices which have been diligently passed down for generations, and continue to Ulun Danu: a unique temple, with a distinctive tiered roof, that ‘floats’ on small islands over Bratan Lake. Rumoured to be the most photographed temple in Bali, this is one of the holiest Hindu sites on the island, so there is a high chance that a ceremony of some sort will be taking place. Stop at Bedugul village to explore the local market, with its eye-catching tropical fruits, vegetables, spices and flower stalls, before continuing on to Bali's northern coast where the remainder of your day will be at leisure.

Day 6
Menjangan Island snorkelling

Hop aboard a boat for a short ride through warm, turquoise waters to Menjangan Island. Enjoy a morning of snorkelling over the magnificent coral gardens and dramatic reef walls, home to a vast array of marine life: everything from sea fans, pygmy seahorses and filigreed gorgonians, to schools of snapper and reef sharks. Transfer back to your resort in the early afternoon, where the remainder of the day will be at leisure.

Day 7
At leisure

Enjoy a day of R&R.;

Day 8
Drive to Munduk via Brahma Arama Vihara & Banjar Hot Springs

Journey east along the coast, then head inland to Brahma Arama Vihara, Bali’s largest Buddhist monastery. This grand complex is spread across a hectare of hillside, with stunning views over the north coast, numerous meditation rooms, tranquil gardens and a mini replica of the temple of Borobudur. Its peaceful surroundings have made this significant Buddhist pilgrimage site a popular meditation retreat. Having relaxed your mind in the monastery’s tranquility, enjoy a therapeutic soak in the natural hot pools at Banjar Hot Springs, before continuing on to Munduk.

Day 9
Plantation & waterfall walk

Enjoy a morning walk into Munduk’s surrounding countryside, accompanied by a local guide. Wander through tropical rainforest and alongside rice fields, past traditional villages and plantations, to one of the area’s beautiful waterfalls where you can take a refreshing swim if you wish. Walk back to your hotel at your own pace, where the remainder of your day will be at leisure.

Day 10
Drive to your south coast beach resort

Drive to the south coast and on to your chosen beach resort. Time to kick off your shoes and sink your toes into the sand!

Days 11 & 12
Enjoy a few days on the beach

Your days will be at leisure to relax on the beach and make the most of the hotel's facilities.

Day 13
Depart Denpasar

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

We took a 16-day private tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. The tour company suggested a detailed itinerary, and we accepted it with minor changes. We had three domestic flights, and on every landing were met by our local guide on arrival. All guides spoke fluent English and were very knowledgeable. This was a trip of a lifetime. Dont miss the Red Bridge cooking school class in Hoi An - the chef has created a phenomenal program that starts with the tour of the local market and explanation of the vegetables and spices used in local cuisine. Highly recommended!

My family and I completed a 12 day cycling trip with Vietnam Private Tours, and we had a blast. Our route started in Saigon, rode along the Mekong river, discovered Mekong delta, and relaxed on the Phu Quoc beaches is southern Vietnam. We loved the adventurous off-road routes, and we were comfortable the whole way thanks to the excellent support staff. We also loved supporting Vietnam Private Tours because of the amazing work they do with many charities, especially the incredible children’s hospital in Mekong delta.

We just finished a 14-day cycling tour from Saigon to Siem Reap, spending 7 nights on board the Mekong River. We rode bikes 30k to 70 km daily, to the Mekong Delta rice fields. My Way Travel really understood that not everyone would will to ride, so they already made provision for people who didn’t ride with us. The guides were excellent and so was the trip. We really loved the boat, it had everything we needed on it. A group of 16 people were accommodated in 8 cabins, which means there were 2 people in a cabin. The food and drinks were all in abundance. Free Wi-Fi and laundry service were available too. The local people were amazingly friendly, and the environments really gave us a sense of relief. The hotels at either end of the trip were exemplary. Above all, we have made our minds to always use My Travel on every trip occasion, due to the great experience we had with them.

Had an awesome time biking to Mekong Delta from Saigon last week. Beautiful views, peaceful rural paths, and lots of cool stops. The guides took great care of us. Definitely recommend VPT for biking in Mekong Delta and other tours in Vietnam.
