Quick answer
Vietnam has 21 MICHELIN Key hotels in 2026 (selection published September 18, 2026). Three Keys: Capella Hanoi and Amanoi. Two Keys: Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi (promoted), Four Seasons The Nam Hai, Banyan Tree Lang Co and Zannier Bai San Ho. One Key: 15 more, eight of them new this year. They line the classic route, so a private tour can stay in a Key hotel in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Sapa, Hue and Hoi An, on the south-central coast, in Saigon, the Mekong Delta, Con Dao and Phu Quoc.

Just as stars rate restaurants, the MICHELIN Guide's Keys rate hotels: one Key is "a very special stay", two Keys "an exceptional stay" and three Keys "an extraordinary stay". Vietnam's first selection, in October 2025, named 13 hotels. The second, published on September 18, 2026, kept all 13, promoted one and added eight, for 21.

The hotels, along a north-to-south trip
The Key hotels sit almost exactly on the classic Vietnam route, which is what makes them easy to build a private tour around. This is how we pair them.
Hanoi and the north
- Hanoi: Capella Hanoi (three Keys) or the Sofitel Legend Metropole (two Keys), both in the French Quarter. Allow two or three nights.
- Ninh Binh: Jiva Hoa Lu Retreat, about 1.5 hours from Hanoi, for the Trang An boats and Hoa Lu, the 10th-century capital.
- Quang Ninh, Halong Bay's province: Legacy Yen Tu, in Uong Bi. The MICHELIN Guide describes it as inspired by 13th-century Tran Dynasty architecture on sacred Yen Tu Mountain, designed by Bill Bensley. Then one or two nights on a cruise.
- The mountains: Hotel de la Coupole in Sapa (5.5–6 hours from Hanoi by road) and Garrya Mu Cang Chai, which the MICHELIN Guide describes as a bamboo-built wellness retreat 1,500 meters above sea level among terraced rice fields.
The center
- Phong Nha: Meliá Vinpearl Quang Binh, for the caves of Phong Nha–Ke Bang.
- Hue: Banyan Tree Lang Co (two Keys), on the coast at Lang Co.
- Hoi An and Da Nang: Four Seasons The Nam Hai (two Keys) on the beach, Namia River Retreat on the river, and InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort on the Son Tra Peninsula.
The south-central coast
- Amanoi (three Keys) on Vinh Hy Bay and Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, reached by speedboat, about 1 hour 15 minutes from Cam Ranh Airport.
- Zannier Bai San Ho (two Keys) on a secluded coral bay, and Azerai Ke Ga Bay further south.
Saigon, the Mekong and the islands
- Ho Chi Minh City: Park Hyatt Saigon, Mai House Saigon or Mia Saigon.
- The Mekong Delta: Legacy Mekong in Can Tho.
- To finish on a beach: Six Senses Con Dao or Regent Phu Quoc.
Three ways to build the trip
| Trip | Key hotels on the way | Start from |
|---|---|---|
| The north in a week | Capella Hanoi or the Metropole, Jiva Hoa Lu, Legacy Yen Tu, then a Halong Bay cruise | Best of Northern Vietnam |
| North to south in two weeks | Hanoi, Banyan Tree Lang Co or Four Seasons The Nam Hai, Park Hyatt Saigon, then Six Senses Con Dao or Regent Phu Quoc | Luxury Tour of Vietnam |
| Beaches and slow days | Amanoi or Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, Zannier Bai San Ho, Azerai Ke Ga Bay | Vietnam Beach Break |
