Dalat: Vietnam’s Green Thumb

One of the country’s most alternative destinations, Dalat is known for many things. The country’s honeymoon escape and ‘city of Eternal Spring’, Dalat attracts both domestic and international travellers for its cool temperatures, super-fresh produce, quirky attractions and rugged landscapes.

Sitting in the midst of the central highlands, the city is flanked by lush pine forests, undulating hills and vibrant gardens. It is also popular for trekking and wildlife spotting for those seeking a bit more adventure from the main attractions of the city.

Established over a century ago as a French hill station, the city is illustrated by colonial decor, traditional villas and Art-Deco attractions. Deliciously fresh produce and a vibrant central market are a highlight of the visit, as are the cute if slightly kitsch ‘love’ attractions of the city. Dalat is also home to the infamous Crazy House, an architectural feat that blends fairytale settings with an an active accommodation choice.

Outside the city proper visitors can find colorful hill tribe regions, excellent trekking routes and scenic drives, which make for great day trips and multi-day excursions. Dalat is served by multiple daily flights, making access to the highlands simple and convenient.
