Nui Chua National Park
Where the Mountains Meet the Sea in Central Vietnam
Nui Chua National Park is situated in Ninh Thuan Province on Vietnam’s south-central coast – a spectacular mix of wild mountains, dry forests and pristine coastline. Sometimes called the only true dry forest ecosystem in Vietnam, this National Park is made up of 31,000 hectares, both land and sea, which includes coral reefs, endangered fauna, and breathtaking walks in nature. This park is a dream come true for hiking lovers and eco-adventurers!
Reasons to Visit Nui Chua National Park
Nui Chua was designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in 2021 based on its biodiversity and rare ecosystems. You can skip the crowded beaches and explore:
• Dry forests and spectacular mountain landscape
• Clear turquoise bays with coral-rich coastlines
• Wildlife, like black-shanked douc langurs, sun bears, and sea turtles
• An unspoiled land and sea ecosystem combining inland trekking and coastal chill-out time
Activities
• Go trekking on Nui Chua Mountain. Climb through the dry forest to Nui Chua’s 1,039-metre peak to see panoramic views over land and sea.
• Swim at Vinh Hy Bay. A pristine, postcard bay loved by snorkelers and for being a beautiful beach spot with crystal waters and coral. You can take a cruise or go kayaking or snorkeling near the shoreline.
• Check out Hang Rai Cave. This unique rocky formation, which is located off the coast of hang rai, is known for sunrise and lunar-like views.
• Go wildlife-watching. There are rare species you can view either by the coast and in the surrounding forested area, particularly during nesting season when sea turtles come ashore to lay eggs.
• Camp overnight under the stars in some of the most tranquil and isolated parts of Vietnam.
Best Months to go
The best time of year to visit Nui Chua is in the dry season from December to August, as it is much easier to trek, snorkel, and enjoy beach time. The wettest months are September to November. The trails can become slippery and the seas can be rough.
