Nui Chua National Park

Where Mountains Meet the Sea in Central Vietnam

Located in Ninh Thuan Province along Vietnam’s south-central coast, Nui Chua National Park offers a rare blend of rugged mountains, dry forests, and untouched coastline. Often referred to as Vietnam’s only true dry forest ecosystem, the park covers over 31,000 hectares of land and sea, including coral reefs, endangered wildlife, and scenic hiking routes. It’s a dream destination for nature lovers, hikers, and eco-adventurers.

Why Visit Nui Chua National Park?

In 2021, Nui Chua was recognized as a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, thanks to its exceptional biodiversity and rare ecosystems. Here, you can explore:

  • Arid forests and dramatic mountain landscapes
  • Clear turquoise bays and coral-rich coastlines
  • Wildlife like black-shanked douc langurs, sun bears, and sea turtles
  • A unique blend of inland trekking and coastal relaxation

Things to Do

  • Trek Nui Chua Mountain: Hike through dry forests to reach Nui Chua’s 1,039-meter peak for sweeping views of the sea and countryside.
  • Swim at Vinh Hy Bay: A peaceful, picture-perfect bay known for its crystal waters and coral reefs. Take a boat ride or snorkel near the shoreline.
  • Explore Hang Rai Cave: This unique rock formation by the sea is famous for its sunrise views and lunar-like landscape.
  • Wildlife Watching: Spot rare species in the forest or along the coast, especially during nesting season when sea turtles come ashore.
  • Camping: Spend a night under the stars in one of the most remote and peaceful parts of Vietnam.

Best Time to Visit

  • The best time to visit Nui Chua is during the dry season from December to August, when the weather is clear and suitable for trekking, snorkeling, and beach time. Avoid the rainy months (September-November) due to slippery trails and rough seas.

How to Get There

  • From Phan Rang City: Nui Chua is about 35 km northeast of Phan Rang – Thap Cham City. You can travel by car, taxi, or motorbike.
  • By Train: Take a train to Thap Cham Station, then continue by taxi.
  • By Air: The nearest airport is Cam Ranh (about 1.5-2 hours away).

Where to Stay

  • While there are no hotels inside the park, several great options are nearby:
  • Amanoi Resort – A luxury wellness retreat nestled between the forest and sea
  • Vinh Hy Resort – Mid-range hotel overlooking the bay
  • Homestays in Vinh Hy Village – Budget-friendly stays with local families
