Day 1: Welcome to Hanoi
Greetings from Hanoi: Vietnam’s thriving old colonial capital! Your designated driver and guide will pick you up at Noi Bai Airport and take you to your hotel in the city center. Check-in at an award-winning French colonial design hotel at the heart of the bustling city. After checking-in, explore the city and the beautiful Old Quarter filled with French-colonial structures via cyclo. Enjoy a delectable dinner in one of the best restaurants in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi City Tour – Night train to Laocai ( Meals: B / L / D )
Today, you will have a full day of exploring Vietnam’s old-colonial capital. The spacious and tree-line streets, French design and architecture,serene lakes, and ancient pagodas, Hanoi provides a diverse mix of culture, history, and architecture for all types of visitors. The city tour we offer takes you to Hanoi’s famous sites such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and stilt house, One Pillar Pagoda, West Lake, Temple of Literature, Quan Thanh Temple, Tran Quoc Pagoda, and one of the museums (Ethnology Museum or History Museum). After your city tour, watch a Water Puppet Show that was derived from the wet-rice cultures of Vietnam before heading to the train station to catch your night train to Laocai.
Day 3: Lao Cai - Sapa
Your train will arrive in Laocai early in the morning. Have breakfast at a nearby local restaurant then go on a scenic drive to Sapa: Northwest Vietnam’s travel gem. Sitting at 1,600 meters above mountains, rice terraces, and valleys, Sapa was first used as a hilltop escape for French colonizers who want to retreat from the heat of summer. Sapa is home to may hill tribesmen that have their own unique culture. Upon arriving, check-in at the hotel (if there are rooms available before 2 PM) and experience the hill tribe culture and mountain air as you wander around town.
Day 4: Sapa – Trekking Fansipan
Mount Fansipan, Vietnam’s highest peak, towers above the beautiful Sapa hill station. IN the morning, have breakfast first then proceed to your expedition. Upon leaving town relish the beautiful rice terraces and visit numerous hill tribe villages. Go on a picnic lunch break at 1,300 meters ASL before proceeding to the campsite at 1,650 meters ASL. The posters and guides will make the tents and prepare dinner for you. Enjoy the campfire as you experience the fresh, cold winds above the mountains.
Day 5: Continue trekking
Spend the whole day trekking through Mount Fansipan. The hike can be quite tiring and requires prior preparation. Go on a lunch break at a ridge sitting 2,200 meters ASL. Relax and do some stretching while you take in the breathtaking view over Sapa Valley before proceeding to the next campsite at 2,900 meters ASL.
Day 6: Continue trekking
On the next day, continue the expedition to Mount Fansipan’s summit. The summit has an altitude of 3,143 meters ASL. Go through lush bamboo forests as you ascend to the mountaintop. The hike may be tiring, but the panoramic view that the ‘roof of Vietnam’ offers is well worth the trip. Have lunch and relax at the summit, experiencing the rawness of nature. Start your descent in the afternoon, and return to the campsite for the night.
Day 7: Fansipan Trekking - Sapa.
After breakfast at the camp-site then begin your decent back down to Sapa. You take time descending the steep trails to enjoy the surrounding views of the mist-woven mountains and distant villages. Your expedition ends in Sapa with a farewell dinner held at one the town’s famous eateries - the perfect way to thank the local team.
Day 8: Sapa- Laocai - Night train back to Hanoi.
Enjoy a free day to discover Sapa at your leisure. Explore the local market and orchid garden, visit Dragon Mountain, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery. Leave Sapa in the late afternoon for the Laocai Station, where you will catch your train back to Hanoi.
Day 9: Hanoi Departure.
After breakfast, enjoy a free morning to explore Hanoi before transferring to Noi Bai Airport to take your departure flight.
